Alford and Westhill primary pupils are among those set to battle it out in a series of Olympic challenges this term.
Aberdeenshire Council’s active schools team has organised a cluster festival for schools in the Alford, Huntly, Inverurie, Kemnay, Meldrum and Westhill school networks, which will see pupils battling it out in Olympic events such as the javelin, discus, triple jump and track races.
Teams will be assigned a country which is taking part in this year’s Olympic Games, with events including both an opening ceremony parade and podium presentations.
Each cluster event will then be scored, with the top two teams from each being invited to the regional finals day on Tuesday, June 12, at the Garioch Sports Centre in Inverurie.
Schools can also complete classroom-based tasks related to the Olympics and the countries they have been assigned.
The festival is part of the Games Legacy for Scotland programme and the regional finals take place during the National School Sport week.
Delivery and support at the events will be provided by existing P7 pupils who have received Sports Leaders training and senior Sports Leaders from the associated academies.
