When 90-year-old Willa Jack had a trip down memory lane recently, she had no hesitation about picking her destination – Banchory.

Willa is a resident at Hawkhill Nursing Home at Milltimber and her unique day out was the result of her spotting a picture of a vintage Alvis car in a newspaper.

“My father used to have the Alvis dealership in Aberdeen and I always loved that make of car,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it when I saw the story in the newspaper. I just had to write to the car owner to tell him my father had the dealership in Aberdeen many years ago. The lovely gentleman then replied and we arranged a day when he took me out in the car. I also couldn’t believe he owned a Riley – which my father had too.

“We drove out Deeside and being in an Alvis brought back all the memories of my father and his business. We went to the Tor na Coille for afternoon tea, which was another girlhood memory revisited. It was a lovely day out.”
