A local Rotary Club annual quiz for primary pupils took place recently, with one team of children winning a ‘first’ for their school.

The Rotary 1010 Competition, organised by Rotary Clubs around Scotland, saw five teams - Culter, Milltimber, Cults, Kingswells and Airyhall schools - taking part in Aberdeen Deeside Rotary Club’s local heat on March 11 in Cults Primary School.

Airyhall School were winners for the first time and Cults were very close runners-up with only a point between them.

Rotarian Ian Reid told the Piper: “Each team tackled 60 questions on a range of topics - Maths, Literature, Music, the Media, Science, History, Geography, the Natural World, Current Affairs, General Knowledge and Sport. All teams performed very well and Airyhall goes on to compete next in the Area heat of the Rotary 1010 Competition.” Mr Reid added Rotarians present at the quiz were well supported with tea/coffee and pancakes, with Lorna Dalziel, Cults Primary depute head teacher, being a very welcoming host.
