Judith Wight has been appointed as acting head teacher at Banchory Academy and is keen to bring her many years of experience to the school’s young people, staff and community.
An educator for more than 23 years, Judith lives in Westhill with her husband and two sons. Of her new posting Judith said: “Banchory Academy is a high attaining school with successful and hard-working young people.
“It is supported by very dedicated staff who want the very best for them. In this role, I will continue to build on the fantastic work that is already in place to allow every individual to be successful.”
Judith began her career as a teacher of physical education within primary schools in Fraserburgh as well as Fraserburgh Academy and Westhill Academy.
Before moving to Banchory Academy Judith was principal teacher of guidance and part of the senior management team as acting head teacher at Westhill Academy.
With a passion for sport, Judith’s favourite subject at school was physical education which she said taught her many life skills as well as providing her with the inspiration to become a teacher.
She said: “When I was in primary school I had an inspirational P.E. teacher. He was so positive about everything and worked hard to get the very best from you.
“I also come from a teaching background, my grandmother was an early years teacher, my father was a secondary depute head teacher and my sister is a qualified primary school teacher – so you could say I was destined to go into the teaching profession.”
