Alford Academy have donated more than £3,000 to Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland following their efforts in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI).

S5 pupils Antonia Lawrence and Jennifer Cowe gave the winning presentation which represented the work of the charity in their community at the YPI Finals.

YPI is a structured curriculum programme designed for secondary schools, centred on youth voice, youth action and youth philanthropy.

Antonia and Jennifer’s presentation inspired the judging panel, resulting in a grant for their chosen charity of £2,500, funds which were sponsored by the Wood Group Foundation.

Fellow S5 pupils, who as part of the initiative undertook their own fundraising efforts, added a further £529.31 for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland.
