Ella talks her way to Westhill title

The annual Young Speaker competition organised by the Rotary Club of Westhill & District, was held at Trinity Church, Westhill and attracted a record 17 contestants from primary schools in Westhill, Dunecht and Echt.

The competitors selected a wide range of topics, which included animal extinction, global warming, Victorian children and nuclear power.

Mr Ian Reid had the difficult task of adjudicating and complemented everyone on the high standard of presentations and for the visual aids that were employed.

The winner was Ella Murray from Crombie Primary, whose subject was swimming and the runner-up Harison Collie Duguid from Dunecht Primary, whose subject was allergies.

Westhill Rotary senior vice president Jim Arbuckle presented the winner with a shield, gift tokens to the winner and runner-up and certificates to all the competitors.
