It has been hailed as Deeside’s Top Social event for many years, and this year’s 2015 Summer Marquee Ball was no exception.

The Ball was held in glorious sunshine last weekend, with over 350 guests enjoying a Marquee Dinner, Dancing to the fabulous Slinky, some party games, a Fine Auction and a Grand Raffle at midnight, featuring a top prize of a Weeks holiday in Tenerife, which was won by Mr Geoff Smith of Cults, who happened to be there on the night.

This year’s beneficiaries were the RDA (Riding for the Disabled- Deeside Branch) and Friends of the Bellfield Care Home, both very local charities this year.

The guests were greeted by the Banchory Pipe Band at the Raemoir House Hotel, with owners Neil and Julie Rae, personally greeting guests and at the champagne pre-dinner drinks.

The Ball, now in it’s 18th year, and organised by Logan Sangster and Dawn Law, has raised over £330K for local charities since it’s inaugural Ball back in 1998.

“We are very grateful to all the local businesses and individuals who have supported us this year, at a very difficult time in the Oil and Gas world, so we have relied on many local companies to pledge support this year.

“Highlights of this year’s auction has to be a beautiful Silver Handcrafted Bangle, kindly donated by renowned Scottish Silversmith (and former Banchory lad!) Mr Malcolm Appleby, a collective prize of Dinner for Four at Raemoir House, Banchory Lodge, Tor-Na-Coille Hotel and the Milton Brasserie sold, and a beautiful set of Diamond Earings. Two Local artists offered support this year, with a private commission by Finzean based artist Mel Shand, and Inch based artist Carol Ingram donated the beautiful painting ‘ The Crystal Malt’- both bought by local guests. “We have a small committee who work with us, but they are dedicated and loyal, and without their support and the support of the local community, this event would simply not be possible” commented Logan Sangster.

The Final amount raised this year will be announced very soon, and the funds handed over to both charities at a reception next month.
