Banchory Bowling Club recently received £300 from Tesco in recognition of its work in maintaining the Recreation Grounds in Dee Street.
The putting green, tennis courts and trampolines are largely maintained by club members, but staffing costs and equipment have to be paid for from charges.
Fundraising is therefore vital, and the club is delighted with the award.
In the photograph, Tesco’s Community Champion Brenda Peter is shown presenting the cheque to Bowling Club President John Abernethy, together with other club members and users of the facility.
Brenda noted that Tesco were pleased to support groups which made such an effort to help the local community.
The Bowling Club said it was also very grateful for a separate donation of £250 from Banchory Community Council following a talk given by Vice-President Mhairi Jarvie.
Again, Community Council members were surprised and impressed by the amount of work put in by club members to keep the Recreation Grounds in operation.
