Fire at care home in Tarland

Care home residents had to be evacuated from their facility in Tarland, near Aboyne, after a fire broke out yesterday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to tackle the blaze at Alastrean House around 15:50 on Saturday.

Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue and Scottish Ambulance Service attended the fire.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Residents were initially evacuated to another part of the complex unaffected by the fire but later the care providers took the decision to move all residents to other care establishments.”

Nine fire crews attended the blaze which was described as “quite extensive”. The flames were extinguished by 20:00.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious.
