Firefighters get washing

Banchory Fire Station is supporting the national Firefighters Charity car wash this year.

The public is invited to have their car washed at Banchory Fire Station between 10am and 2pm on Saturday (September 15) and make a voluntary donationto the charity.

The National Car Wash is the charity’s largest national fundraising event of the year, when fire fighters throughout the UK willingly wash the nation’s cars, in exchange for a donation.

The event also gives fire fighters the opportunity to interact with a large cross-section of their community and promote important Community Fire Safety initiatives.

In 2011 over £290,000 was raised through car wash events in March and September.

This total went directly towards helping fire and rescue community members who were in need of rehabilitation and recuperation treatments.
