The Lang Byre Gallery at Woodend Barn in Banchory will host a touring exhibition from Compass Gallery in Glasgow and Alzheimer Scotland, in which 76 contemporary artists from across the UK were selected to create special works exploring the theme of memory.
The exhibition, titled ‘The Form and Force of Memory’, is designed to stimulate and inspire the creative minds of both the artists and the public, raising awareness of the importance of our memories for recording our experiences and forming our identity.
The individual responses to the topic create a lasting sensory and visual experience for the onlooker.
The artists’ work invokes humour, melancholy, pathos, fear, happiness, joy and many more emotions that make up the human spirit.
A preview showing, open to all, will be held in the Lang Byre Gallery on Friday 17 August, 7pm-9pm.
The exhibition can then be viewed from Saturday 18 August to Saturday 22 September. Gallery opening times are Tuesdays to Saturdays, 12-4pm, admission free.
