Friends’ strawberry fair going strong since 1989

The annual Friends of Insch Hospital and Community Strawberry Fair is being held on June 10.

The fair has been held in the hospital grounds since 1989, allowing the Friends the opportunity to fundraise, share information on an informal basis and welcome the community to a family-friendly social event.

The fair is from 2 to 4 pm and includes a traditional small fete, with entertainment by the Strathbogie Fiddlers, strawberries and local Mackie’s ice cream, children’s entertainments and the usual stalls along with afternoon tea in the tea tent with a Jubilee theme.

The Dunnydeer Hill Race will start and finish at the Hospital grounds with registration from 2pm in the grounds, race starts at 2.30pm.

The Friends of Insch Hospital & Community was established in 1989 to support the healthcare services of Insch and District.

Since then the Friends have been involved with a variety of projects including building the Day Room onto the hospital, organising patient social events, gardening, decorating, buying equipment for the hospital, health centre and patients in the community and providing volunteer transport to Health Centre appointments.

The Friends continue to support the Monday session of Insch Day Centre at the Church Hall.

Anyone who would like to join the funding sub-group for re-development of Insch Hospital or volunteer for any of the activities, should contact - janereidinsch@aol.com or alasdair.marion @hotmail.co.uk
