The weather was kind last Sunday for the annual fun run on Aboyne Green.
This was the seventh time the event has been held. It is planned by the Primary 4 classes of Aboyne School and organised for them, on the day, by Rotarians of the Aboyne and Upper Deeside Rotary Club, who also provide the barbeque. This year the children decided, as well as numerous stalls and games, they would have a fancy dress competition. Pictured are some of the children preparing for the procession that preceded the run. They are being instructed by Rotarian John Stephen who coordinated the day. The fun run involves as many circuits of the Green, around a marked course, as the children can complete in an hour. The proceeds of sponsorship, the barbeque and other activities support the school and also Rotary charities. The Rotary Club are grateful to Ian Ogston, of Troup’s Butchers and the Aboyne Coop for supporting the barbeque. Among the many charities and good causes Rotary support are a number that help the health, development and education of children, in the UK and around the world. More locally the recent winners of the local heats of the Rotary primary schools quiz, from Torphins Primary, have progressed to the north of Scotland finals, to be held next month.
