Following on from the great success of last year’s exhibition, Strathdon artists and makers are holding their second North East Open Studios week.
From 15-23 September, Glenbuchat hall in Strathdon will be the venue for an exciting exhibition of a wholehearted and diverse mix of disciplines demonstrating the extensive creativity currently thriving in the glen and beyond.
Exhibitors include both professional and amateur artists.
Visitors will have a chance to contribute to this year’s community artwork, which celebrates the autumn equinox on September 22, a time of change, where days become shorter than nights. A giant installation will be created from colourful wind mobiles, and hung over the River Buchat. Anyone of any age can take part. Help and materials will be on hand from Sunday 16th until Friday 21st September. On September 22, a ceremony will take place to celebrate the equinox, Meet at 2pm Sat 22nd at Glenbuchat hall.
On Sunday 16th September, there will be a Heritage Walk around the Glen. The walk is approximately 2 miles and lasts around 1.5hrs. Meet at 2pm Glenbuchat Hall.
Teas, coffees and excellent homebakes will be on offer to those who travel to this beautiful glen to enjoy the event.
The Glenbuchat NEOS is signposted from the A97 Alford to Strathdon and open 10-5pm Monday-Saturday, 11am-5pm Sunday.
