Gold award for Banchory Scouts

Three Banchory Scouts recently received their Chief Scout’s Gold Award. This badge is the highest award available in the scouting section with each boy completing eight challenge badges covering a range of outdoor, community and personal development activities.

Group Scout Leader John Lawson presented the awards at the Banchory Scout Group’s AGM in June.

A good turnout of parents and Scouts heard reports from the two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs, three Scout Troops and the Deeside District Explorer Unit which jointly run activities for the 270 children currently involved in the 1st Banchory Group.

Other awards presented on the night were the Baloo trophy to Calum Morrice; the Eagle trophy to Caleb Thornton; the Philmont Shield to Innes Hay, Graham Salway and Scott Wilson; the Diamond Jubilee Shield to Daniel Readman, Callum Lechatellier; the Gordon Trophy to the Monday Kestrel Patrol, the Thursday Tiger Patrol and the Friday Stag Patrol & the Anderson Taylor Award for farming to Daniel Hemming.

A new award, a quaich crafted & donated by Mr. Alan Smith was awarded to the best patrol at the June camp.

The inaugurtal winners for this trophy were Callum Scott, Dylan Duncan, Edan Grange, Mackenzie Bovaird, Patrick Duncan & Duncan Stewart.
