‘Hair’ today gone tomorrow

An Alford academy pupil has almost 3ft of her long locks cut off to donate to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to illness.

Sixth year pupil Anna Mouat headed to the salon last week for the drastic haircut, which she hopes will help raise money towards an expedition to Zambia and Botswana. Anna will be taking part in the trip along with a team from Alford Academy, during which they plan to build houses for local families and orphans living in a rural village.

Hair stylist James Dun House in Aberdeen kindly agreed to cut the Donside teenager’s hair free of charge and thanks to sponsorship from friends and family, she has already raised almost £1000 to cover a third of the cost of the expedition.

Anna said: “I wanted to donate the hair to the charity because I knew people who have donated hair before and many people have told me of family members and friends who have benefitted directly from the charity.”
