When Rachel Johnson made a New Year resolution to lose weight at the beginning of 2013, little did she know how successful she would be.

Now, thanks to the support of the Banchory Slimming World group and her seven-stone weight loss, she is starting a new career by opening her own group in Aboyne.

The 23-year-old had struggled with her weight for most of her life, which caused great stress growing up.

Rachel said: “I lacked confidence; I was unhealthy and very unfit.

‘‘A few years ago, we moved back to Ballater to be closer to my husband’s family with our young toddler. Moving to a new area caused such emotional turmoil that I felt alone and very depressed so my bad eating habits grew worse.

‘‘I struggled to leave the house or even talk to other people. After seeking medical support and advice, I was told I had high blood pressure and knew that I had to do something to regain control of my life”.

Rachel’s Aboyne Slimming World group opens today (Thursday) at 7.30pm in the Victory Hall.

Rachel said: “As a slimmer myself, I know how hard it can be and I couldn’t have lost seven stones without the support of my consultant and group. With the right support it is possible to make your New Year’s resolutions a reality.
