The first prize in this year’s Summer Marquee Ball grand raffle has been announced. At a meeting at the Raemoir House Hotel, where the event is being held on August 25 this year, it was declared that the top prize this year will be a a week for two in Tenerife, including hotel and flights direct from Aberdeen.
The proceeds from this year’s event will go to Gastrocan - the only charity raising money specifically for research into stomach and oesophageal cancer.
The Summer Ball committee was thrilled when this prize was kindly sponsored by Banchory businessman, Nick Atkins, of Aberdeen company, Rubberatkins.
Logan Sangster said: “Nick is also married to Deeside councillor Jill Webster, and both Nick and Jill have been avid supporters of the Ball since it began many years ago and we appreciate their valued support for this worthy cause.”
The event last year broke through a fundraising landmark by raising over £250,000 for local charities, including the Archie Foundation and Alzheimer Scotland, since it began back in 1998. Last year was one of the most successful events, raising £28,500 for Homestart Deeside.
