local women are coming together in Banchory to celebrate women’s inspiring contributions to health in their local communities while enjoying a ‘cuppa’ from one of the world’s largest teapots.
The event takes place at Buchanan’s Bistro at Woodend Barn between 10am and 12.30pm on Thursday (March 8).
International Women’s Day is a major day of global celebration of women. Around the world, the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women’s economic, political and social achievements.
This year, the Deeside event aims to bring women together to meet, share and explore alternative health methods, make new friends and celebrate the positive contributions they make to the North-east as women.
Female complementary health practitioners will be on hand in Buchanan’s Bistro to share their knowledge and skills in kinesiology, reflexology, shiatsu, reiki, aromatherapy and yoga. There will be a free taster Tai Chi class between cups of tea from the giant teapot.
This years health theme was inspired by conversations with local entrepreneur Jacqui Christie, of Organica J. Her organic aromatherapy products have become a mainstay in many homes and first aid kits across the world. Her business development journey is an inspiring story and one that she is happy to share.
Initiator and artist Marie Shaw said: “There are so many inspiring women living in this local area, but many never actually get to know each other.
“I wanted to encourage all those truly inspiring women to take a moment out of their busy diaries and celebrate their valuable contribution to the world around us. If you would like to join in the event please come along.”
