It’s a family affair for Orcadian duo

Critically-acclaimed Orcadian duo The Wrigley Sisters will perform at Banchory’s Woodend Barn at 8pm on Sunday (April 22).

Twins Jennifer, on fiddle, and Hazel, on piano and guitar, began performing together at a young age and have since developed a fan-base across the world, with appearances in North America, Australia, New Zealand and the Far East.

The universal audience appeal of Jennifer and Hazel Wrigley reflects both the calibre of their music - a sparkling blend of traditional, contemporary and original material, invigorated with jazz, blues and ragtime flavours - and the effervescent charm of their performances.

The twins now run a highly-successful music school in Orkney with 600 pupils of all ages learning a variety of instruments. This formidable endeavour has kept Jennifer and Hazel away from touring, so their Woodend Barn appearance presents a rare opportunity to catch the talented and highly entertaining duo, described as “the hottest prospects to emerge from the Orcadian musical tradition in recent years.”

Tickets cost £14, £12 (conc), £5 U16 in advance, plus booking fee; or £15, £13 (conc), £5 U16 on the door.

Tickets are available from the Woodend Barn box office on (01330) 825431 or at www.woodendbarn.co.uk
