Banchory man Jim Taylor is hanging up his mailbags after working for Royal Mail for 27 years.
The dedicated and friendly postie has delivered mail to the Drumoak area for the last 16 years and was thrown a party by some of his customers, where he was presented with a gift voucher for £300.
Jim was also given a portrait of himself in his Royal Mail uniform, which was painted by Maureen Cure.
Eileen West, who held the party at her home, said: “No matter what the weather was like, Jim always had a smile on his face and battled through. Everyone will miss him terribly.”
It was a double celebration as Jim’s wife Anne also retired last week from Bellfield Medical Practice, where she worked as a receptionist.
Anne was presented with a bouquet of flowers at the party.
More than 50 people went to Eileen’s house bid Jim a fond farewell.
Eileen added: “We hope he comes back to see us all again soon and everyone wishes him and Anne well in their retirement.”
