Banchory Lodge Hotel waiter, Kevin Simpson, 20, took home a Hospitality Gold Medal for his outstanding contribution to Scottish hospitality at the Scottish Hotel Awards 2012, held in Glasgow on Sunday, May 20.
Kevin, who joined Banchory Lodge only five weeks ago said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been awarded a gold medal from the Scottish Hotel Awards for my work.
“It is a great honour and it is even more satisfying that I was identified by a mystery guest from the tourism industry.
“I try to offer the same service to each and every guest who sets foot in the hotel and this is a great reward for this. ”
A group of judges make anonymous visits to hotels throughout Scotland in the lead up to the Scottish Hotel Awards and it was on one such visit that Kevin’s skills in outstanding customer service and his passion for the hospitality industry was recognised.
Banchory Lodge Hotel came under new management in January. New co-owner and Aberdeen businesswoman, Carol Fowler, said: “I am very proud of Kevin for winning this award. We operate a level of excellence in customer service at Banchory Lodge which comes naturally to all of us in the team. Every member of staff is truly passionate about our hotel and all work exceedingly hard to offer our guests the very best experience possible. I am really very happy that Kevin has been recognised nationally for his efforts.”
