banchory Library is hoping to launch a new, ‘housebound service’ in September.
The aim of this service is to provide housebound readers with a full library service. These are readers who, through age or a disability, cannot use a static or mobile library within their community. This free delivery service is available to all residents of Aberdeenshire, regardless of age, who are temporarily or permanently confined to their home due to disability, infirmity, illness, or being the carer of someone affected by these conditions.
The library service will provide readers with a selection of items, including books, CDs and DVDs, if required. The type of stock and media required will be specified by the borrower and these needs kept in the branch. Staff will make up a collection of items for the volunteer to deliver on a monthly basis to the borrower.
Banchory Library hopes to launch this service in September to those living in the town of Banchory.
If you feel you or someone you know would benefit from this service, contact Banchory Library on 01330 823784 or email Banchory.firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/libraries .
