Long established local organic meat producers Wark Farm, of Cushnie near Alford, are holding the first of their ‘Visit the Farm’ open days on Sunday (April 17).
The open days offer the chance for people to learn more about farming and food production by enjoying a farm ‘walk and talk’ and to hear more about life on the farm.
For this first, family-friendly open Sunday, lambing will be well under way and visitors can meet some of the new lambs.
There will be a short walk and talk with a visit to the impressive Hebridean rams and two lively collie pups.
Visitors are welcome at the farm from 10.30am and the walk and talk will set off at 11 and last for about an hour.
Wark Farm is home to a herd of Belted Galloway cattle and a flock of Hebridean sheep, both traditional Scottish breeds noted for their ability to produce meat of the highest quality.
The cattle and sheep also play a valuable role in the farm’s organic system as well as being integral to the many ways in which the farm encourages wildlife such as in wildflower meadows and wetlands.
