A local GP is set to tackle the Ride the North cycle challenge from Inverness to Aberdeen accompanied by her 16-year-old daughter.

Moira Collins, a GP in Ballater, and her daughter Kirsten, who attends Aboyne Academy, will be taking to the roads for the cycling challenge, which sees riders cover 88 miles from Inverness to Elgin on day one, and 82 miles from Elgin to Aberdeen on the second day.

The Deeside duo are taking on the route to raise funds for the Sandpiper Trust.

The Sandpiper Trust is a charity which supplies equipment to GPs and paramedics for immediate medical care in remote and rural areas.

Donations for this cause can be made online at www.justgiving.com/Moira-Kirstencycle or at Ballater surgery.
