Discover the gems of Royal Deeside this summer on Stagecoach’s seasonal service, which is offering open top tours.
The Open Top Bus 200 is running trips through the beautiful scenery of Upper Deeside three times daily.
Despite a perceived lack of publicity by service provider, Stagecoach, the service is a true hidden gem.
Stagecoach announced the commencement of the service a week after it started for the 2014 season.
A spokesperson for Stagecoach said on July 14: “Stagecoach Bluebird have announced the return of a favoured route for the summer season from Glen Muick via Ballater and Braemar to the Linn O’Dee.
“The new route complements Stagecoach Bluebird’s network of coaches already operating through Deeside and offers people the chance to enjoy some of the sites treasured by the Royals and locals alike for centuries.”
The service, which began on July 7 and runs until September 7, starts in the Spittal of Glen Muick and takes in Ballater, Royal Lochnagar Distillery, Braemar and Linn O’Dee.
The bus, dubbed ‘Monarch of the Glen’, runs from Monday to Sunday throughout the school holidays and will continue to run on Saturdays and Sundays when the schools go back.
Cllr. Geva Blackett said: “The open top bus is a brilliant way to see many of the beautiful sights Upper Deeside has to offer and gives the opportunity for visitors to hop off at Braemar Castle and learn something of the history of the area at Scotland’s first community run Castle. Stops can also be made at the Linn of Dee, Balmoral and of course at Loch Muick - there’s something for everyone be they visitor or resident!”
