A firm, with offices in Westhill, has given a whopping Christmas boost to a North- east charity to the tune of £5000.
North-east urological cancer charity, UCAN, saw the sum donated by North Sea operator, Fairfield Energy.
Fairfield was the first company to sign up to the UCAN Christmas poster appeal, which allows workers to pen their festive greetings to colleagues on a poster, rather than sending individual cards. Staff are then invited to donate the money they have saved on cards to UCAN.
The organisation has also promised a donation of £5000 to UCAN, which is currently raising funds to purchase Scotland’s first Robotically Assisted Surgical System (RASS) and two integrated operating theatres, at a cost of £2.5million, and hopes staff will dig deep to support the fundraising campaign.
Nicola Gillespie, HR and business services manager of Fairfield, said: “We will be encouraging all of our staff to leave their personal festive messages on the UCAN posters rather than sending cards to colleagues who they see most days.
‘‘We’re pleased to kick off this Christmas poster appeal and hope it helps bring the charity another step closer to its target for investing in vital surgical equipment.”
UCAN’s fundraising manager, Fiona JD Pearson, added “We are very grateful to Fairfield for its generous and ongoing support.’’
