A landmark ceremony took place in Deeside last month as the first couple was married in the recently reopened Lumphanan Church.
Lisa Cunningham, of Torphins, and Stuart Sugden from Lumphanan tied the knot in the Stothert Memorial Church last Saturday, July 19.
The church was closed in 2005 and has since been converted into the Lumphanan Heritage Centre, which is now open for business.
Skills and trades, including joinery, plasterwork, masonry, carpeting and window cleaning by voluntary workers all contributed to the refurbishment of the building, which dates from 1870.
The hard work has made the former church a delightful venue for a variety of occasions.
The front entrance has been redecorated, carpeted and adorned based on local historical photographs.
Duncan’s of Banchory had donated a carpet for the front of the church as the last owners had removed it, and Paul Anderson and wife played while the register was signed by the happy couple.
Organisations and individuals from Deeside and beyond are now welcome to use the Lumphanan Heritage Centre as a venue for art exhibitions and musical recitals, as well as weddings and funerals. For more details , call Irene Thomson on 013398 83365.
