Plea to find buyer for popular shop

The owner of a popular Deeside craft shop has issued a plea for someone to take over her business.

Carole Mathieson has been running The Wee Boorachie at Milton of Crathes for the past 15 years but is retiring to allow her to spend more time with her family.

Mrs Mathieson is due to step back at the end of March and said it would be sad to see the shop close if a buyer can’t be found.

“The Wee Boorachie provides something unique as it offers mostly Scottish crafts and provides an outlet for people who want to sell their work at a reasonable price,” she said.

“I feel, after 15 years of building up the business, to just sell up and close the door would be sad.

“I love it and I’ve really enjoyed my time here but I feel it is the right time for me to go.”

Mrs Mathieson says the role would suit someone who is passionate about craft work.

“It would have to be someone who has an appreciation of crafts,” she said. “They must also be committed and prepared to put in the time.”

The Wee Boorachie is situated on the banks of the River Dee and Mrs Mathieson believes the location provides a unique setting.

She said: “It is a lovely business, in a beautiful spot and the Milton itself offers a chance to go walking, somewhere to eat at the restaurant, as well as an easy place to park.

“People come back time and time again as you’re not going to find a place like this anywhere else.”
