Scarred dog is in need of new home
The Scottish SPCA is seeking a special home for a dog left badly scarred after undergoing life saving surgery to remove a tumour from behind her eye.
Kyla, a ten month old female lurcher, was signed over to Scotland’s animal welfare charity by her owners, who could no longer care for her.
When she arrived at Drumoak’s Scottish SPCA Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in November, a vet check revealed she had a tumour behind her left eye. Sadly the vet had no option but to remove the tumour and her eye.
Kyla has now recovered from her operation and staff at the Aberdeenshire centre have launched an appeal to find her a new home.
Centre assistant manager Debbie Innes said: “Kyla is one amazing young lady.
“Despite all she has been through, she has a heart of gold and an unbelievably positive outlook on life.
“We were concerned about how she would cope post-surgery, but Kyla has shown us she’s not going to let losing an eye affect her quality of life.
“She can come across as being quite shy at first but, given time, she’ll soon be trying her best to get a big cuddle.
“Kyla is like an overgrown puppy so she will need some further training to help her develop into a graceful young adult.
“She’s full of energy and would make a great companion for someone active who would enjoy taking her for lots of long walks.
“Kyla has so much love to give and we really hope there’s someone out there who can look past her physical scars and see the beauty that shines within.”
Anyone interested in offering Kyla a home can call the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999 and ask to be connected to the Aberdeenshire centre.
