THE organisers of the annual Summer Marquee Ball have secured the support of a top chef for this year's event.
Chef Theo Randall, based at the InterContinental Hotel in London's Park Lane, has donated a set lunch for two at his restaurant as a prize in the fine auction. His restaurant won Italian Restaurant of the Year at the London Restaurant Awards 2008.
Nicky Bradford, of Kincardine House, Kincardine O'Neil, is working with alongside the ball committee on behalf of this year's chosen charity - Children 1st - and her daughter, Louisa, is a chef with Mr Randall at his restaurant.
Mr Randall said: ""I am delighted to support Children 1st - I have happy memories of time spent in Scotland, and hope this year is the best yet for the Summer Marquee Ball."
Local travel agents Travel Counsellors have also offered two flights to London for the event and accommodation in London is also in the pipeline.
Other items up for grabs at this year's fine auction include a 'Picnic up Deeside' in a 1924 Bentley, donated by car owner and driver Marshall Bailey, of Banchory.
A painting by Aboyne artist Alison Ewan will also be auctioned, as will golf lessons with a local professional, donated by Creative Project Solutions.
Mrs Bradford and husband Andrew are also offering dinner for 12 at their house, cooked by Banchory man Peter Ferguson, who recently featured in ITV's Taste the Nation.
There is also fishing on the Dee, a handmade kilt by McCalls in Aberdeen and a day with an STV film crew, sponsored by STV.
Among items on offer in this year's grand raffle include the top prize of a weekend for a family of four to Disneyland Paris. Second prize is a 250 portrait voucher at Deeside Photographics and third is a jeroboam of champagne, sponsored by Costco, Westhill.
Tickets for the raffle are in local retail outlets and the raffle team will also be at Raemoir Garden Centre this weekend. Anyone wishing to contribute to the summer ball or showcase a product to be included in the grand raffle or auction can contact Logan Sangster on (01330) 824300.
The ball - which takes place at the Banchory Lodge Hotel on June 27 - has already sold out and has, in past years, raised thousands for charity.
