It could be happily ever after for Storybook Glen after the attraction was upgraded from three to four stars by tourism body Visit Scotland.
The Maryculter based attraction wowed the judges praise with it gaining an overall grade of 81%.
They were particularly impressed with the staff, appearance, signage and price.
Storybook Glen, as the name suggests, revolves around the world of fairtales and storybooks.
Hundreds of life size characters, in the forms of statues, populate the 28 acre site.
But not everything at Storybook Glen is so static with a real-life Old McDonald’s farm delighting children with real farm animals.
This year the Glen saw expansion with the opening of the Dingle Dell Gift and Garden Centre with guests able to pay for entrance to either the ‘Dell’ or the ‘Glen’.
Picnics are permitted on grass area in front of main entrance but not within the Glen itself.
Jackie Liddel, manager, said: “I think it is a very reasonable way to spend an afternoon, people love getting out with a lot of fresh air and the kids love everything to see and do. I’m amazed by the amount of visitors that come- we’re on our third generation of some families!
“We allow picnics at the Dell because we know people are feeling the pinch a bit more just now and we think we’re offering some really good value deals at the moment.... Hopefully the we get as good a summer as last year!”
