Braemar Creative Arts Festival is to benefit from more than £2000 of Lottery funding.

The award has been made from “Open Project Funding”, available to a wide range of organisations and individuals working across Scotland in the arts, screen and creative industries.

Local councillor Geva Blackett: “Braemar Creative Arts Festival is an annual community-led event attracting locals and visitors to try something new. This year I joined the Dumfriesshire-based Samba Sisters for their percussion workshop which was such fun we have decided to start our own group in Braemar.

“There are plenty of other activities on offer ranging from acting workshops through to wildlife photography. It’s a great event and I am delighted they organisers have been awarded funding to help with the costs.”
