Grampian Police is investigating a theft in the Logie Coldstone area.
A ride-on mower valued at a four figure sum was stolen from a domestic property in the village between 5pm on Monday and 10 am on Tuesday this week.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area or who has been offered such an item for sale.
Investigating Officer, constable Steve Lafferty, said: “While this type of crime is still relatively rare in the area, people should not become complacent.
“Garden machinery and power tools are very easy for criminals to sell on and are easily targeted, as they are often left in sheds and outbuildings with inadequate security.
“I would urge anyone who is offered such items for sale to use caution.
Check that serial and model numbers have not been removed and if you are at all suspicious, walk away and contact police.”
Anyone with information regarding this incident or who has been offered a ride-on mower is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5 700, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
