A Banchory charity has been praised by Aberdeenshire West MSP Alexander Burnett.

Non-profit organisation Magpie was congratulated on its work by Mr Burnett during a recent visit.

The MSP was accompanied by the Conservatives’ new local council candidate for the Banchory area, Ann Ross.

Magpie operates two outlets in the town - at Tillybrake Industrial Estate and a shop in Bridge Street.

The charity puts money back into the community via Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action (AVA).

Mr Burnett said: “It is vital that charities such as Magpie are given adequate support from the council to help them provide for our local community and allow them to expand.”

The Scottish party’s energy spokesman added: “It is also great to see the charity being so environmentally friendly.”
