Dr Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North-east has quizzed SNP Ministers on future civil contingencies provision for the Grampian area following the establishment of a single Scottish Police Force.
Speaking at Justice Questions in the Scottish Parliament she asked SNP Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Kenny MacAskill whether the Scottish Government intends to review the support it provides to Grampian Police in relation to civil contingencies
Dr Milne said: “Grampian Police have a number of significant challenges in providing police protection for the Royal Family when they are resident in the Deeside area, as well as Policing the Oil & Gas Sector including the St Fergus Terminal.
“With the SNP Scottish Government pressing ahead with the establishment of a new single Scottish Police Force I want to make sure that SNP Ministers are made fully aware of the policing needs of the North-east and that resources are not redirected away from the area towards to the central belt.
“I am seeking a guarantee from the SNP Scottish Government that the new single Scottish Police Force will retain a local focus on the policing needs of communities across the North-east.”
