Musical notes to help raise funds

Victoria & Albert Halls in Ballater have two musical events coming up in July to raise vital funds for the hall refurbishment.

The first musical event will take place this Sunday July 5 at 3pm and will see the return of popular fiddler and composer Alastair Savage.

Alastair will be joined by Pete Clark, the director of the annual Niel Gow festival in Dunkeld. Also playing with them will be Euan Drysdale.

Marybell Macaulay said: “We are continuing fundraising for ongoing repairs and refurbishment of the halls which are such an integral part of the community, housing not only a wide range of community activity, but also the library, Cairngorms National Park office, Marr Area Partnership office, and now providing a home for the Visitscotland office following the devastating fire at Ballater Old Station building.”

The second musical event will take place on Sunday July 26 were the groups afternoon Tea Party will welcome youngsters from the annual Aberdeen International Youth Festival. Coastline – 15 youngsters, 12 fiddles 2 cellos and a piano. Tickets £10/£8 concessions from Yule’s Newsagents, phone 013397 55745.
