A new community radio station for the Deeside area is to broadcast its first live programme this Saturday (October 1).

River Dee Radio will be online from 10am until 1pm.

With a mix of music and chat, several of the presenters who will be involved in a variety of programmes will be appearing on the first show to explain the nature of the programme they will be hosting.

A spokesperson said: “As the schedule builds up, it is hoped that this mix of good music and lively chat will provide a useful and entertaining variety of shows for local people in the area and beyond.”

Banchory and District Initiative (BDI) has sponsored the licence, and Banchory Round Table, Rotary and Lions Clubs have given financial support.

The crowdfunding target of £500 has been reached, but it is still possible to donate at justgiving.com

Banchory branch of Legion Scotland has provided the fledgling station with a room at its Ravenswood club.

It will broadcast online and can be received by downloading the Tunein app, then searching for River Dee Radio by phone, tablet, laptop or PC.
