Councillor Peter Argyle last week played down concerns that Aberdeenshire council had spent money on painting new markings on a stretch of road that is due to be resurfaced.
Residents in Aboyne were surprised to find a section of Ballater Road, outside the town’s Victory Hall, had been repainted only a few weeks before work is due to start on repairing potholes left by the harsh winter.
Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside councillor Peter Argyle reassured local residents that the resurfacing work was taking place further along the Ballater Road.
He said: “The contractors were instructed to mark the road no further east than the anti-skid surface on the eastern side of the traffic light crossing.
“The sign informing about repairs in May is not placed at the place where the repairs will begin.
“I have personally been up to check the road and can confirm that the new road markings will not be affected by the resurfacing work.”
