On Thursday, November 29, Banchory will be launching the festive season with a grand switch on ceremony in Scott Skinner Square.
Local Olympian Ben Kilner will officially switch on the Christmas tree lights at 6pm, followed by music from the Banchory Pipe Band and traditional carols from Banchory Singers. Rotarians and Lions will be on hand with warming food and drink.
Many of the shops will open late that evening to help with Christmas shopping, and there will be various stalls selling Christmas gifts to raise funds for local charities.
The local fire service will be on hand with their festive fire engine and fancy dress firefighters. Mulled wine and hot chocolate will also be served from Deeside Drinks Emporium and Continental Cream. Organisers are looking forward to an evening involving the whole town centre and as many residents as possible.
