Midstrath Equiworld Club members got into the Olympic spirit at their annual summer camp, which had an Olympic theme throughout.
More than 50 members moved into the ‘Midstrath Olympic Village’ enjoying an unusually dry and sunny few days camping. As well as taking part in a variety of equestrian activities and competitions, riders were split into different countries to compete in various team events with points for each accumulating throughout camp.
This year’s camp was brought to an end with a closing ceremony led by the club’s very own piper Liam Lloyd, followed by the youngest and oldest riders at camp Kirsty Dundas and Kathryn Christie who, together, carried their Olympic torch.
Each team of riders carried their country’s flags and shields which they had designed, followed. Every rider wore their Midstrath Olympic hoodie, showing every rider from every team was part of the Midstrath Equiworld Club team which fits well with the club’s ethos.
The prizegiving saw rosettes for all in individual competitions as well as medals for all in the team events. The podium created even more excitement with each rider hoping for a podium position.
Team results were as follows: Gold – Germany (Jodie Maher, Zoe Paul, Rosie Getliff, Anna Blair, Emma Ingram, Morven Meston, Melissa Allan); Silver – USA (Kathryn Christie, Sinead Broere, Amy Hamilton, Erin Stirton, Holly Milne, Jessica Allan, Katie Meston); Bronze – Italy (Megan Getliff, Lauren McKay, Evie Cumming, Georgina Campbell, Cara Rough, Alex Harding, Clodagh Elrick, Kirsty Dundas).
