The first ever ‘Opera on the Lawn’ event in Deeside will take place later this month.

The show of music, romance and joy visits Crathes Castle on Saturday (August 27) and will feature the renowned Aberdeen Opera Company performing a selection of music from a variety of operas and operattas including La Traviata, Carmen, Don Giovanni, Cosi Fan Tutti and The Magic Flute.

Gerry Muldoon, from organisers GM Events, believes the atmosphere created should be something special

“This will be a true alfresco evening and those present will be able to enjoy their picnics and drink in the beautiful surroundings and enchanting gardens of Crathes Castle,” he said.

“While opera aficionados are more than welcome to attend, I would stress this is very much geared towards the family and irrespective of age and experience of opera, it promises to be a magical evening. Aberdeen Opera Company, now in its 70th year, has an enviable reputation for entertaining audiences across Scotland with first class performances all produced to a consistently high standard.

“The gates will open at 5.15 pm, with the bell tolling at 7 pm to mark the start of the show which lasts approximately 90 minutes and will go ahead as planned, irrespective of the weather so we do urge everyone to dress appropriately.”
