a group of five Aboyne Academy pupils organised a Pink Friday event to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

Lucy Aitken, Lilli Pearson, Liam Lloyd, Seoras Blair and Kay Gibson organised the event for their S1 Enterprise project and raised £394.84. The whole school community took part with pupils, teachers and staff wearing items of pink clothing for a £1 donation to the charity.

Local volunteer with Breast Cancer Care, Ann Hudson, said: “It’s great to see young people holding events and raising awareness of the charity.”

The pupils involved said they gained a lot from the experience.

“We really enjoyed organising Pink Friday and felt really proud that everyone in the school enjoyed themselves and took part for such a great charity,” said Liam Lloyd

Teacher Jennifer Law said “The pupils in the group were so motivated to get everyone involved with their idea. For their Enterprise project they had to come up with a product, service or event in order to raise money for a charity of their choice. They researched, planned and advertised their Pink Friday brilliantly and should be very proud of their hard work.”
