Residents at Pitmurchie House, Torphins, celebrated the 70th anniversary of VE Day last week.

On Friday, May 8, residents reminisced by talking about how old they were at the time the war ended, with some aged just six.

Activities Co-ordinator Pauline Robertson said: “I got the residents a copy of the original newspaper with victory papers seen in the photographs. They admired the picture frame of King George VI, the Queen and Churchill on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with the two princesses, Elizabeth (now her Majesty the Queen) and and Margaret. and coins from the war years.”

Residents celebrated with afternoon tea and cakes.
