Residents of a flood-hit Ballater sheltered housing complex have shown their appreciation to the local minister after returning home.

They were evacuted from Sluiemohr to the Victoria and Albert Halls in late December when flooding engulfed many parts of the village, but the power went down leaving everyone without heating and lighting.

The Rev David Barr and his wife Lorraine stepped in and took all the residents back to the manse where they looked after everyone until alternative arrangements could be made at the local barracks.

Mr Barr and his wife were recently invited back to Sluiemohr for a ‘thank you’ afternoon tea in appreciation of their support at such a difficult time.
