Rotary quiz raises £1500 for flood fund

A Rotary quiz has raised more than £1500 for the Ballater and Deeside Flood Relief Fund.

It was devised by Mike Smith, a member of the Rotary Club of Aboyne and Upper Deeside (AUD Rotary), and featured North-east place names.

The quiz has sold motre than 1500 copies in shops and venues from Banchory to Braemar,

Winners the Midstocket Church “Wednesday Group” in Aberdeen donated the £50 first prize, donated by the Co-op in Ballater, to the flood fund.

The fund has so far raised more than £60,000 and disbursed over £40,000 in grants, assisting nearly 100 flood-affected households from Kincardine O’Neil to Braemar.

AUD Rotary are thanking all individuals, Rotary Clubs and organisations who have assisted them and contributed to their flood fund.

Officials have especially thanked “Hope Floats – Deeside Flood Response Network”, a Facebook group which recently contributed £11,750 to the Rotary Fund.

The money was just some of the total raised in February through the efforts of local man Mark Robinson who held a sell-out fundraising evening in Ballater.
