Heavy rain and the extreme weather conditions during the spell before Christmas thankfully did not deter Santa or his Rotary helpers.

For members of Alford and District Rotary Club were still able to tour the Alford and surrounding district on Santa’s sleigh as part of their annual charity Christmas collection.

This year’s Rotary Club President, Alastair Macpherson, told the Piper: “Our yearly, two week long Christmas collection was once again a huge success with £3,299.91 being collected from the many kind-hearted residents located within the Donside area.

“This money allows us to support our annual afternoon’s entertainment for the senior citizens and additionally provide assistance to a variety of other worthwhile local and international events.

“On behalf of our club members, may I send a hearty thank you to all those who willingly contributed.”

During the collection period, Santa’s sleigh was again seen and heard touring Alford, Monymusk, Sauchen and their surrounding areas playing festive music, while Santa, assisted by his many “Elves”, met the children who received a present.
