The Deeside Theatre in Aboyne was the venue for two special screenings of Steven Spielberg’s epic film “War Horse” recently.
The two events combined have so far raised in excess of £6500 for “The Brooke”, a charity which helps working horses, donkeys and mules and their owners in the third world.
The performances were preceded by a reception and raffle with Porridge the donkey making a red carpet appearance in the Community Centre foyer. A short talk was given by Linda Anderson, the Aberdeen Supporter’s Group Leader, on the workings of The Brooke and its connection to the “War Horse” film.
A letter from HRH The Duchess of Rothesay, the charity’s patron, was also read out in which she conveyed her best wishes and support for the event.
Further information on The Brooke can be found at the charity’s web site www.thebrooke.org.
