A group of three senior Aboyne Academy pupils made a special visit to Balmoral Castle to deliver a gift they had made for the Diamond Jubilee of HM The Queen.

Connor Ironside, David Murray and Dale Grant have been making Adirondack style garden chairs as part of an enterprise project in the Art, Design and Technology Faculty over the past school year.

In discussion with their teacher Mr Milton, they had the idea of offering two of the chairs to HM The Queen as a gift for the gardens of Balmoral Castle.

The boys asked Mr Jowett to write to the Queen’s private secretary to offer the gift and were delighted to hear that their gift was accepted.

The two carefully crafted chairs, each with a special commemorative brass plaque, were presented to Balmoral Estate Factor Richard Gledson earlier this month.

The pupils sais they hope that members of the royal family will enjoy using the chairs during their annual visits to Balmoral over the years ahead.
