Seven new homes at golf club ready to tee off

An application for seven homes – which includes affordable housing – at Westhill Golf Club has been given full planning permission.

A revised application, submitted to Aberdeenshire Council in late 2014, was passed by nine votes to five at an Infrastructure Services Committee meeting on January 29.

The new plans addressed concerns previously raised by the Garioch Area Committee, including the lack of affordable housing in the area, in line with council requirements.

All seven homes will now be bungalows, while additional tree-planting will also be undertaken to enhance privacy, in response to some concerns that the two-storey houses included in the original application would overlook neighbours’ gardens.

The application is for four homes on Loch View and a further three on Kinsgwells View. Two three-bedroom homes on Kingswells View will be affordable housing.

Aberdeenshire Council received more than 100 letters of support from the local community during the consultation period.
